Generation buried under the weight of books
This is a common sight under every roof which resides a school going student. Children are made to study 5 to 10 hours a day .The only emphasis made in the schools these days is to get good marks. It can be in any way, no matter the childhood is lost under the weight of books. In the hours, which demands them to learn the basic skills of life like decision making and communication they are asked to read books and score good marks. A potential question asked is “Were the previous generation uncompetitive without burying themselves under the weight of books?” the answer is big NO. So, why are we so over emphasizing the role of books today? This whole system has made the future of country weak physically and mentally. The forced exposure to books has not only harassed student life but has also given birth to some new problems.
‘Suicide’ is one of them. It is a result of the current education system. The peer parental and school pressure has led the mild minds of the kids under huge stress. They break down commonly and gradually this leads to the ending of their life. In recent times this problem is in lime light. In recent times more than hundred students have ended their lives.
Secondly it is psycho stress. They are vulnerable to stress. Psychiatrists have a group of new kind of patients who are victims of stress. Renowned psychiatrist of Patna Dr. A.k jha has told us that the increasing cases of children break down is because of the increasing pressure to score better. He quoted that it is not the knowledge which matters but the marks which really does- A common yet a big mistake prevalent among guardian. And he wanted to send this message to every parent that they are ruining up their ward’s life. He expressed his utter surprise to the present mentality the guardians comprehend. He said that all they want is the performance no matter how adversely it will affect the health of their children. When a child was asked of his situation he replied desolately, that he gets beaten by parents whenever he is lower in grades. Unbelievably parents are forcing their wards to such an extent that they do every possible way to make parents satisfied and if they are unable to, they break down to sick themselves.
This doesn’t mean that I am against the entire academic system of schools. But scared that during this tenure children are simply cut-off from the external world. The schools shouldn’t stop their studies but make them learn through ‘small common life examples’. Sports and related activities should also be encouraged and children must be shown the diverse opportunities available today. This will make them good decision makers, thus making them good citizen tomorrow.
Well written & simply marvelous. i appreciate your every single word here on this blog. PARENTS - pls stop killing your own ward's.pls Learn to accept the fact- this is not going to help either of you in any fuc.... way. weel done ujwal.
